Targeting, reaches and resolution phase

A targeting is automatic (chosen by the ability) or manual (chosen by you).
Its reach defines the identity and number of targets of the ability used.

If you click right on an ability, its battle file will appear by the battle logs.
This file informs you about the type(s) of reach of the ability (whereas the symbol on the parchment informs you about the type(s) of targeting, manual or automatic), as well as about all the bonuses/penalties, attacks and effect this ability will trigger.

When selecting an ability (click left), and if it’s an ability with manual targeting, the cursor changes according to its reach and you are the one choosing your target.
If a target isn’t accepted, the cursor is simply greyed.

To finish, the ability is resolved during the resolution phase which lasts from the selection of the target until the end of your Kaode’s creature round.

RESTRICTED REACH SYMBOL

This symbol can be found on the right part of the symbol for abilities of which reach(es) is (are) somehow restricted.

Example: "Only affect creatures possessing the "robot" subtype".

These restrictions are explained for every ability, on the creature file of every Kaode.

This targeting cursor appears when an ability can target a unique, allied and/or enemy target.
If an ability aims at an ability, the targeting must first be done on the targeted creature, then a second time among the list of authorized abilities given.

This targeting cursor appears when an ability has a “zone” reach.
The cursor must be set on the creature at the center of the zone of effect.

The choice is thus given between the members of your allied team or the enemy team.

An individual reach ability can only target one creature, allied and/or enemy (depending on the ability).

It can’t aim at the owner of the said ability and it can’t be dodged by an ally

An ability reaching ability first gives the choice for a unique target (allied and/or enemy, depending on the ability), and then for an authorised ability in the given list.

Abilities with a restricted reach are abilities affecting or non affecting a particular kind of creature, sub-type or type of ability.

Example : Ability with an ennemy team reach, only affecting creature with at least one passive ability currently activated.

TEAM REACHING ABILITY

A team reaching ability allows to choose a team between yours and your opponent’s and to strike all the members of this team (including the creature activating the ability if the allied team has been chosen).

A team reaching ability can’t be dodged.

An all creatures reaching ability affects all the creatures in the arena.

And it can’t be dodged.
RESOLUTION PHASE

RESOLUTION PHASE

The resolution phase begins when an ability has been selected along with its target(s).
This one estimates and applies the consequences of the ability for the creature which used it, as well as for its target(s).

In order, damages and effects are applied and resolved after the bonus and penalty verification, which affect both the ability and the creatures.
The K.O., swaps, escapes and ejections are solved.
Then, the impact damages and energy consumption are calculated and inflicted.
To finish, the energy burn is estimated and inflicted.

Then starts the creature round of another Kaode.
